LARA KLAWIKOWSKI AW 2014 ‘Dreamscapes’ is a collection inspired by my somnabulism and fragmented memories of dreams. The designs were made from digitally printed cotton and floral lace, sliced and sewn back together with strips of printed vinyl, and plaids layered with meshes. The digital print on cotton is a monochromatic collage of sleeping and sleepwalking statues in classic art. The gold vinyl is covered in a print of the outlines of flowers, and resembles a coloring-in book. The contrast of textures, prints and weights between the fabrics warps the proportions of the designs, and mimics how we piece together our dreams and what we experience in our sleep.
This collection was showcased at Design Indaba 2014.
